Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental Policy

Environmental Health and Safety Policy

  1. We firmly believe that safety must be considered a value that is inherent in every facet of our operation. Furthermore, we believe that our most important assets are our employees and providing a safe and healthful environment in which they can work is of paramount importance.
  2. In implementing this policy, it is abundantly clear that the only acceptable level of performance is to remain Incident Free on all of our worksites, each and every day of the year. We believe that such performance is achievable with the full cooperation, commitment and diligent effort of all our employees within the business unit.
  3. The creation of an Incident Free environment requires a thorough understanding and acceptance of the following principles:
    1. Employee safety and health, in addition to the protection of the environment, is an integral part of our company operation. HSE must not be viewed as a priority that can be shifted, however temporarily, in its order of importance, when other departments bring pressure to bear in an attempt to place more emphasis on another aspect of our business.
    2. HSE leadership in the creation of an Incident Free business unit must exist independently of individual personalities or single objectives.
    3. The only projects that can be expected to be consistently productive and profitable are those that are free from incidents and the resulting injuries, or from environmental damage. The only acceptable performance rating on all of our projects is Incident Free.
    4. All employees must, regardless of their position within the company, accept and wholeheartedly execute their responsibility for HSE.
    5. Through proper training, planning and compliance with HSE processes and practices, all accidents can be prevented.
    6. With sufficient planning and foresight, all potential project hazards can be eliminated before an accident can occur.

HSE Management System and Performance Policy

Safety, health and environmental management systems are designed, implemented and maintained. Responsibilities are fully understood and accepted at all levels of the organization. Management systems are put into operation in order to provide reasonable assurances that business is always conducted in compliance with both government and internal requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. With respect to health, safety and environmental issues, all levels of management are expected to display both commitment and leadership. This should exist on all of our project sites, beginning at the craft supervision level, leading to a high level of awareness and performance among our workers.
  2. We have established the criteria and performance indicators that must be followed, in order for all staff to be familiar with the Manual. These standards must be fully adhered to, in order for the personnel, who are the front line supervisors, to be as effective as possible in the performance of their duties.
  3. The Weldex health, safety and environmental program is specifically designed to ensure that all employees are engaged in continuous improvement. Leadership and direction originate with the president and are passed down through the entire organization. However, it is the responsibility of the front line supervisor to ensure safety compliance, thus eliminating unsafe conditions and the potential for accidents before any injury may occur.
  4. Assessments, audits, monitoring, sampling, testing and inspections are used as evaluation and control programs, designed to evaluate these programs and to measure progress. Control programs are necessary to provide reasonable assurance that products and operations comply equally with applicable government standards and our own internal requirements. The identification of any deficiencies through these control programs can then be corrected promptly.  These assessments or reviews can be carried out either by the site safety supervisor or by other management staff.
